– Flux-Cored Wires: FCAW employs tubular wires filled with flux materials. These wires eliminate the need for external shielding gases, making FCAW suitable for outdoor and windy conditions. After the welding process is completed, the slag layer covering the weld must be removed using mechanical welding accessories such as a chipping tool or a wire brush.
FCAW is used in the construction of beams, columns etc. The advantages of FCAW are its high deposition rates, deep penetration and its suitability in outdoor conditions.
